Assessments
This week I completed each student's End of Term F&P Reading assessment. Your child's independent reading level will be reflected in the report card score and discussed further during scheduled PTCs.
Expository Writing (How-To Paragraph)
Students published and presented their finished how-to paragraph to the class this week. I am looking forward to our PTCs when your child will share how he/she follows the writing process!
Picture Graphs, Tally Charts, Bar Graphs
This week students worked with a Math partner to plan and conduct a survey. After deciding on a survey question, they picked a role (one student asked the question, one student recorded the answers), and chose how to represent their data (picture graph, bar graph, tally chart). During the activity, students walked around the classroom and asked their survey question to each classmate. With their partner, they recorded their data, then created a representation of the information they collected. Finally, each pair presented their graph/chart to the class, sharing what information they learned about our class and what surprised them about the data. Students were excited for this project and it was a great way to finish our Math chapter before Spring Break!
Tradition's We Share - Family Traditions and Celebrations
Thank you for taking time to help your child complete his/her interview last week!
A big focus this week has been completing our Social Studies posters. Students worked on writing a paragraph about the celebration they chose last week, then created a poster to display their writing, photographs, and pictures. These will be on display during PTCs. Our class is excited to share them with you!
When we return from Spring Break, our class will review what we've learned and continue this Social Studies chapter.
Earth's Resources
This week students completed an assessment to finish our current Science unit about Earth's resources.
Have a wonderful break!
