We also announced the crests design winners and Squad of the Month award.
Fire Drill

Reading
Readers Meet the Characters in Our Books
During Reading, students discovered how the characters are feeling by using the characters' words and pictures in the book. We learned more about the characters by imagining what the character is thinking. Our class practiced saying, "Hmm... if I was the character, I would be thinking _________." We also focused on understanding the characters by making connections about how the character(s) are similar and/or different from the reader.

Social Studies
Who works in your school?
During Social Studies G1A and G1B interviewed UST's school secretary, Ms. Yukiko, to learn more about her job and how she helps our school. We learned how she uses the telephone and computer. We also talked about what the custodian does to help UST.
How can you be a helper at school?
Our new Social Studies question this week was, "How can you be a helper at school?" The class brainstormed what they do at home to help others. We also talked about different examples of things that might happen at school and the best, positive choices students can make to respond to each situation.
Examples:
- A student drops the crayons on the floor.
- A student forgot to use the trash can.
- There's a new student in class.
- A group wins, but your group doesn't win.
Have a wonderful weekend!
