Happy and Safe Holidays to everyone.
We ended our last week with a great winter concert on Thursday and Santa's visit to school on Friday. We'd like to thank everyone involved. A big thank you to the PTA for organising the raffle and Friday's lunch, Santa and presents. Happy and Safe Holidays to everyone.

Our concert rehearsal on Monday went well. It was a long and tiring day but now we know how the concert will go on the day. In Math we did hands on activities to learn about ordinal numbers, position words and position from the left and right. We did some descriptive writing about gingerbread cookies this week. Children used their five senses to observe the cookie and then wrote how the cookie felt, smelt, tasted, sounded and looked. We continued to learn more about our class families this week with 7 children sharing photos, families trees and special things made together. In math we finished our unit on shapes with a review of whole, half and quarters using Lego and having the children draw pizzas with different toppings on the parts of their pizza. We then started on a new chapter about ordinal numbers. We had a soft toy race and ranked the winners from 1st to 4th. In Social Studies we started talking about needs and wants and how people meet those needs. In Science we did a fun materials sort using objects we found in the classroom. The unit test allowed us to review all we have learned about the design process and materials. Show and Tell was a great way of getting to know our G1a families better. Students shared photos and stories of their families. |
