The Fish
By G1B
I like to look at fish,
I wish for a fish in a dish,
Fish are slimy
Fish are shiny
I'm going to eat it
in my pits!
EWWWWWWWWWW
Reading.
Although the students have a 'level' assigned to them for homework books, if they wish to read different or more difficult texts at home they are more than welcome to! This helps the kids choose books more suited to their own interests and keeps them motivated while reading.
Social studies and the science field trip.
We had a field trip to the Japan Meteorological Agency on Thursday and it was great to see the children asking lots of questions about the meteorologists and their work. Although the beginning part of the tour was watching people at their work (which some students wanted to go and and see what they were doing) was a bit bland, the students then were able to go to the museum and use their knowledge of weather to interpret charts and see how the agency predicts weather and disasters. The field trip resulted in a lot of questions about volcanoes and earthquakes and I'm hoping to address this nearer the end of term (I love geology!)
