Welcome to a wonderful year of first grade at UST! I hope you had a great summer holiday. I would like to take a moment to introduce myself.
My name is Allison McAfee and I will be the G1A homeroom teacher for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio and have been teaching for 8 years. Before moving to Tokyo in 2017, I taught first grade for four years. This will be my fifth year teaching at United School of Tokyo. I am excited to continue being part of the community at UST and overjoyed to be your child’s first grade teacher this year! My goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where your child can explore, learn, and grow.

He has also taught in public and private schools in Sydney as well as an international school in Osaka. |
In preparation for our first day of school (Monday, August 30th), these are the items your child will need to bring in.

As we prepare for the school year, it will be important for you to label any items coming to school from home, such as your child’s clothing (tags), water bottle, lunch box, snack box, and restroom towel. We will also be taking trips to the park, so please send mosquito spray, a hat, and sunscreen to school as well.
P.E. Class
G1A students will need to wear their P.E. uniform to school every Monday and Wednesday. They will also need comfortable shoes suitable for running to wear for both indoor and outdoor P.E. classes. These shoes must be appropriate for sports; toes should be covered and the shoe should hug the foot securely to avoid injuries. Sandals, crocs, flip-flops are not allowed. Grade 1 students will need to wear their P.E. uniforms for the first day of school.
The first day of school is Monday, August 30th. Please help your child arrive at school on time. Doors open at 8:15 AM and students need to arrive by 8:25 AM. Students that arrive at their classroom after 8:30 AM will be marked as tardy.
I look forward to meeting you!
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you!
Kind regards,
Ms. Allison
