Thank you for coming to UST's Winter Concert on Friday! The students have been working so hard this term to prepare for this performance and did a fantastic job! All of the teachers at UST are so proud of them and we were happy to see everyone there to celebrate the holiday season together!
Have a safe and wonderful winter break!

A big thank you to Mrs. Yellen for being G1A's Class Parent and helping organize the holiday gifts for our class! The students were so excited about the books they received and loved reading them at school! Each child brought home two books with their name written inside.
Science
During Science our class explored how to use mirrors to redirect a light beam and learned about reflections. They played the Rearview Mirror game where one student sat in a chair and held a mirror while their partner stood behind them holding up an object. They had to move the mirror into a position to observe what was behind them.
Science Vocabulary
Reflection - the word for the image you see in a mirror
Students also used a mirror to look at their reflection and draw a picture of their eye. They learned that their eyes are light receivers.
Reading
We finished the term by reviewing what we learned about story elements and characters during our unit Readers Meet the Characters in our Books. Students also practiced understanding how a character feels by making text-to-self connections and thinking, "This is how the character feels. How would I feel?"
Writing
This week we completed our descriptive writing unit and the students shared many of their published writing pieces from this term with the class. Students also made their own holiday stockings and wrote kind notes to each other.
