Last, week:
Math: In math the students focused on addition and subtraction words problems. The children even worked on creating their own word problems; which they loved!! The wrote and illustrated word problems that we will hang in our classroom.
ELA: We are now working on narrative paragraph writing. The students wrote a narrative piece related to their field trip experience. We also started a review of capital letters. Additionally, we are still working on understanding character traits.
Science:
We are currently learning about the environment and what plants need to live and understanding resources. Last week we had a bright and sunny day at the park wherein the students went out and observed all of the different resources in the environment. They were given a form to complete and list examples of the different resources. We worked with 1a on this and all of the students seemed to have a great time.
Social Studies:
In social studies we are learning about both culture and maps. We are learning about maps more in relation to understanding that maps help us understand where things are located. We had a show and tell where the students brought in all different kinds of maps. I was unaware how interested and exciting maps would be for the students. We will build off this topic in the coming weeks.
