UNIFORMS - Updated Information
We would like to inform you that the school has decided to adjust the P.E. uniform during the cold months, and allow wearing a BLACK or NAVY long-sleeve heat-tech shirt from Uniqlo underneath P.E. shirts to help children stay warm. Please note that no other colors are permitted. Also, this exception only applies to P.E. shirts (because we do not have a long-sleeve P.E. shirt option). As for the regular uniform, please use long-sleeve school polo-shirts in addition to cardigans for extra warmth.
Also, we had noticed that compared to the beginning of the year, when everyone was following the dress code well, there are more and more students these days who do not wear the appropriate uniform to school. You can find detailed Uniform Guidelines on our website, however here are the most common uniform violations that need to be corrected:
- All K students must wear correct P.E. uniform on P.E. days (T-shirts, long PE pants and zipper jackets to wear underneath their outer jackets). Girls arriving at school on P.E. days in skirts will not be able to participate in the class.
- No leggings are allowed as part of the P.E. uniform or the regular uniform for girls. Please wear navy pants for PE and black or navy tights with the regular uniform.
- No long-sleeve undershirts should be worn under the regular uniform polos. If your child is cold, please purchase the long-sleeve polos on Landsend.
- Wearing cardigans or jackets that are not school jackets (overcoats excluded) is not permitted.
- Coming to school in dirty or ripped uniform is not permitted.
- Please make sure your children do not wear bracelets, dangly earrings or necklaces as they could become dangerous during P.E. or play time.
Uniform Checks
Parents are responsible for purchasing a sufficient amount of uniform items to last students through a full week of school and replacing ripped/washed out/permanently stained uniform items as necessary.
Students not wearing P.E. uniform will not be able to participate in PE classes. A warning email will be sent home to the parents.
UST staff supports the Uniform Policy through frequent uniform checks. The parents of children wearing scruffy, worn, ripped uniform or non-uniform items will be notified and required to conform with the UST Uniform Policy standards. After three consecutive uniform violations, the parents will be called into school and asked to take their children home to change.
If students arrive at school not wearing the correct field trip uniform, they will not be allowed to attend the trip, and the parents will be asked to come and collect them.
At UST we try to teach our students that they are representatives of the school in the community; therefore their appearance and behavior should reflect that. We also teach our students that they should take pride in what they do and how they look. Please help us instill these values school-wide by making sure your children follow the UST uniform policy. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
