This week in science we expanded on our unit on water by focusing largely on bodies of water. The students completes a project where they got to look a variety on non-fiction books to look for facts on rivers, lakes, and oceans. They completed their research and then wrote about an experience they had at a body of water.
The students also created a 3D clay piece of art that showed their favorite body of water. They all seemed to have a lot of fun doing this.
Please note we decided to wait until after spring break to to plant in the milk cartons. There will be no one here to water them during the week off so it is simply better to wait. Thank you all for the cartons!!
Math:
This week we concluded our unit on weight as a form a measurement. The students took a formal assessment which is reflected in their report cards that went home today.
English:
This week during ELA time all of the students were assessed for new reading levels. I will share the results with you all on Monday at the conferences.
Social Studies:
The students took a formal assessment in social studies that was comprehensive and covered the last few units. These grades will be reflected in the report card.
Other news:
We had our very first library day! The students all personally selected their books for the week. They seemed to enjoy having a special library time to do this.
We also had eco patrol this week. The students were very excited to collect trash from around the campus.
Have a great weekend!
I hope to see most of you on Monday for the student-led conferences!
