1. Cut the pictures.
2. Say the name of each picture out loud.
3. Sort the pictures into the correct word family group.
4. Glue the pictures.
Can you write the word next to the picture? Have fun!
Raz-Kids
This week's reading homework is to help your child sign into their Raz-Kids account and explore the books on this website. They are encouraged to read aloud for at least 10-15 minutes every day at home, but of course, they can read longer if they'd like to!
Monday - 10 minutes of reading (RazKids)
Tuesday - 10 minutes of reading (RazKids)
Wednesday - 10 minutes of reading (RazKids)
Thursday - 10 minutes of reading (RazKids)
Friday, Saturday, Sunday (weekend homework) - 10 minutes of reading (RazKids) + record the book (send recording to your teacher)
When your child is finished reading a book, they can answer the Raz-Kids book questions to check that they understood what they read. Information about how to sign in and find "just right" leveled books is in the parent teacher meeting presentation slides (uploaded to our class' Weebly page).
Below is an example of our class' reading log. This has also been sent home in your child's homework folder.
Reading Level
I will be meeting with each child this week and next week to complete beginning of year reading assessments, which include:
- letter names
- letters sounds
- sight words
- reading level (F&P assessment)
If your child was in K3, your child's "just right" reading level on Raz-Kids is from the end of year assessment with Ms. Chalice and Mr. Jake. Students reading on level at the beginning of grade 1 are reading at a level C or D. Once beginning of year assessments are completed, I will enter new reading levels on Raz-Kids and start sending home 2-3 classroom library books in your child's homework folder every MONDAY. These books will be due back to school every FRIDAY.
Numbers to 10
This week during math we will focus on numbers to 10. Students need to complete the two math activity pages glued into their homework notebook.
Challenge Math Homework - The last activity page is OPTIONAL. Students do not have to complete it. If they would like to try it, they can glue it into their homework notebook.
Thank you for all your help!
- Ms. Allison
