Welcome to a new year at UST and a warm welcome to First Grade with myself and Ms Allison. We hope that everyone had an awesome summer holiday and is coming back to school refreshed and ready for the new school year!
My name is Mr Hassey and I will be G1B's teacher this year. I am Australian and have been living in Japan for about 10 years. This is my first year working at UST but I have been teaching for over 9 years in Elementary schools in Australia and Japan. I have a range of teaching experiences from teaching upper elementary in small country schools in the Hunter Valley (a wine region near Sydney) to lower elementary in mining towns to kindergarten in an international school in Osaka. I bring with me a love of books and inquiry based learning strategies and I'm looking forward to sharing these experiences with my students and yourselves this year.
G1B's class this year will be:
Amai
Emma
Hanna
Ian
Katherine
Kole
Lyla
Mina
Molly
Niko
Reo
Sayu
Shinnosuke
Sumiaki
As we prepare for the school year, please make sure to label all items from your homes, such as your child’s water bottle, lunch box, snack box, and hand towel. The general rule is: if in doubt, label it. We will also be taking trips to the park, so please send mosquito spray and sunscreen to school as well (the mosquitoes can get quite vicious around here.)
We will also be posting updates, important news and homework on this Weebly blog so please make sure to check back here regularly. Also remember to look at the specialist teachers blogs as well as it contains updates on what's happening in their classrooms (and Ms Erin will get sad if you don't.)
I'm looking forward to meeting all you next week and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Hugh Hassey
