Special homework for next week!
- What does the animal look like?
- Where does the animal live?
- What does the animal eat? How does it get its food?
- What other interesting facts are there?
As always, if you have any questions, please let me know.
Mathematics.
93 = 9 tens 3 ones. (Students are most familiar with this)
This week we learned it can also be written as 8 tens and 13 ones, 4 tens 53 ones etc. The students also learned how to answer questions such as:
84 = 5 tens ___ ones.
Students came up with two methods to solve this question. First was to find the difference (subtraction) and the other is now called the, 'Kengo method' where we know that the ones will always be the same (so 4 in this example) so we only need to find the difference of the tens and add it on! Clever sausage!
Writing.
- Capital letters in the beginning.
- Use end marks (full stops, exclamation marks, question marks.)
- Use spaces between words.
- Make sure it makes sense.
We expanded on this on Thursday and looked at how all sentences need a subject in them to make sense. The students then looked at my notes on star nosed moles (used as the example for next week's homework) and then had to make complete sentences with them. For example:
black and brown fur = They have black or brown fur/ Their fur is black or brown.
Next week we will be editing and publishing our first texts, just in time to start the next ones about our home researched animal!
