This week in Science students got to put the design process into action again! Children first planned what they would build and then choose the materials they would use to make a marble run, a maze or some other kind of construction. Children could work solo or in small groups. At the end of the construction time children came together to demonstrate how their creation worked. They talked about the materials they used and problems they had and how they could improve their designs. In math students worked in table groups to play geometry games and build models with plane and solid shapes. In ELA students read with their reading buddies and used post it notes to record funny, sad, surprising or confusing parts in their stories and then reported back to the group. We had our first Show and Tell with half the students bringing their favourite story books. Each student talked about their book explaining why it was their favorite and who gave it to them. Grade 1a did so well with the Read-a-thon. I was very proud of their determination! As a class we read over 2800 minutes!!!!! Thank you so very much for your support of this event and for your generous donations. I will announce the total on Monday when I have all the reading logs back.
