What a wonderful way to end a busy week with today's International Culture Day! A very big thank you goes out to all our G1a families who provided so much delcious food for our class lunch. It really was an amazing feast with so many different foods from around the world for everyone to try. We broke our feast into lunch and afternoon snack. The costumes and traditional dress of the many countries represented in our class were wonderful. Thank you also to Ayana's mother Idelia, Liam's mum Maria and Harrison's mother Lauren who all presented today. Ayana and her mother demonstrated how the "rock, paper, scissors" game is played in Indonesia with an elephant (thumb), person (pointer finger) and ant (pinky). Children were surprised tohear that the ant one overthe elephant - ask them why?. Liam's mum read the story of Paddington , the classic bear from English children's literature. Children joined in by giving his name during the reading and then asked for the book to be read again in the afternoon. Harrison's mum showed us a very old traditional Korean game, Yutnori. Children had fun playing this game that uses stick dice with five possible combinations that tells them how many spaces they can move on aboard. All in all Culture Day was a big success and we really appreciate all parent support forthis event.
