This week reading buddies practiced reading in pairs. One person read first while the other listened. Then the listener had to retell the story to their partner. In science we followed the design process to make a protective covering/container for an egg drop experiment. Each table first talked together and drew a plan of their intended design. Then each group used different materials to build their design. The next day came the fun part - testing their design to see if it did indeed stop the egg from breaking. After testing children recorded their data and talked about how to improve their designs by choosing better materials such as egg cartons to build their "egg nest". In writing students edited their writing before publishing the final copies to be put up on the wall for everyone to read. In Math we took the learning outside and did a Shape Scavenger Hunt to see how many shapes we could see in the world around us. We found all the shapes on our list, even the heart!
