Birthday people!
Mathematics.
We then moved onto looking at patterns of shapes. The students used what they learned with sorting shapes to identify whether the pattern is repeating shapes, colour or size. Have a look below to see some of the questions that the students tackled (the last one is a tricky one!)
Writing.
1. Write the piece again beautifully.
2. Cut out or draw their sketches again on the new paper. They chose whether or not they wished to colour it in.
3. Design a title page!
We spent a little time with our author of the month Jon Klassen to help us get ideas on how we should set out our title pages. The students found that he always has a title, the author and a picture to try and make his story look interesting!
Reading.
We then had a self reflection on Wednesday on which reading strategies we felt comfortable with and which ones we would like to practice more before we moved onto reading in pairs. The students learned how to introduce their books to their partners without spoiling the ending! (a hard skill which some adults need more practice with!)
Science.
How does a parachute interact with air?
The students came up with the following observations:
- Air pushes up against the parachute.
- Air can push the parachute left or right.
- Air gets caught in the parachute and escapes out the sides.
I will leave it up to the students to fill you in on how they arrived at these conclusions!
