I would like to remind everyone that students need to bring jackets to school everyday. It's starting to get very cold in the mornings and afternoon and we want to keep the students healthy.
Another reminder is for parents to check their child's face mask fits them properly. We have a lot of students' masks falling off their noses because they are too big (not everyone has a massive snozz like mine......) and with the recent increase of corana virus infections in Tokyo and Japan, we really want the kids to be as protected as possible.
Mathematics.
To extend on this learning, we have also been playing a game with playing cards to make the biggest number possible. I recommend you ask the students how to play it. All you need is a deck of cards and you use cards from 1-9. The students will have 4 sections representing the ones, tens, hundreds and thousands. I'll let them explain the rest to you.....
Writing.
Reading.
- She is a bit silly.
- She likes to trick Charlie.
- She doesn't like to do things.
We then looked for examples of when Lola exhibited these behaviors.
We also continued our reading assessments this week and I'm hoping to finish them next week, just in time for reports!
Science.
How can we make a high/low pitched sound?
We found out that the longer the string, the lower the sound and the shorter the string, the higher the sound. We then tested if this theory was true using percussion instruments on Wednesday. The students then constructed their xylophones from last week and ordered the tubes from smallest to longest.
On Thursday we made spoon gong systems. These are paper cups with a string attached and a spoon at the end. We found that when we hit the spoon, we can hear the ringing in the cup. We asked the question:
How did the sound travel?
I'm sure the most of you will be able to answer that question but I would like you to ask the students to see if they remember!
