Mathematics.
7 - 4 = 3
Whole Part Part
Students also practiced how to solve written subtraction problems using the same method as we practiced for addition. One major difference was that we are requiring the students to write the parts and whole numbers of the sum in a number bond then illustrating the problem before solving it. This allows for students to use more than one strategy to solve the sum (crossing out, number bonds, counting back etc.) rather than rely on one method.
Writing.
- It is written in the past tense.
- It has to be a personal experience/story
- It has to be real (no trips to the moon!)
We have had some great ideas come out already and the students are showing some wonderful topics for their piece of work.
