It's getting cold!
Happy Birthday Ms. Allison!
Mathematics.
We then looked at making pictures with shapes. We have been doing a lot of tangram puzzles with 2D shapes. The students have had to identify how a picture can be 'cut' up into different shapes to make them. They have also been looking at pictures made of different shapes and counting how many shapes there are in them. Look at the picture below and try to count the rectangles, it really stumped the kids on Friday!
Writing.
Bold words - should be stressed or shouted.
small words - should be whispered.
CAPITAL LETTERS - mean shouting!
italicised words - should be stressed in the sentence.
We then looked at our writing and tried to think of times where we could use examples of these in our work!
Reading.
- I read, you read: Each partner read their own book.
- Echo reading: A partner echos what the other reads.
- Read at the same time: Partners will read the sentences at the same time.
- Seesaw reading: Partners will read one page then swap.
I am very pleased to report that everyone has been doing fantastically with their partners and have been choosing their reading strategies based on the book they are reading and how they are feeling at that time.
Science!
- Air can move things.
- Air can push things.
- Air can make small things fly.
-Air can be held in things.
The students then recorded their findings in their science journal. From these discoveries, we talked about how air is matter and therefore must take up physical space (hence why balloons do not deflate if sealed up!)
