Reading.
Students found finding facts in the fiction texts a little difficult as most of them stuck to what was written in the text so we spent a little time on finding our what is inferred by the book. We looked at the pictures, how the characters were talking and the author's word choice to figure out information the book was trying to tell us.
Science.
Mowing grass- Students observed their little lawns again on Monday before answering the question: What will happen if we mow our lawns? Most students used their personal experience from the park to hypothesise that they will grow back. We shall see as the students cut their lawns this week and we will check in on them next week!
Plant cuttings - On Tuesday, students answered the question: What other ways can we grow plants? To answer this question, students learned about nodes of plants and how we can take cuttings from a grown plant and transplant them into water to make them grow a totally new plant! The students took cutting from our long suffering petosi plant 'Pierre' and placed them in water. We are already seeing small roots form from the nodes! The students will be taking home their cuttings at the end of term.
