Mathematics.
Later on in the week we looked at written mathematic problems and we work with both addition and subtraction. For these days, we looked at problems solely based on either addition and subtraction but next week we will be mixing them up! One main area we looked at on Friday was the vocabulary that the questions will use. For example:
Addition words: more, altogether, in all, added together
Subtraction words: less, fewer, How many more (nasty! This is finding the difference.)
We will continue our work with this next week before moving onto the assessment!
Writing.
Later in the week we look at editing our work. We looked at using the correct sequencing words for where the instruction occurs in our text (i.e. finally should happen at the end of our instruction.) We also talked about using a diverse range of sequencers to make our writing interesting (so we don't use 'next' all the time.)
Reading.
Science.
Less than 0: Freezing.
0 - 10 degrees celcius: Cold.
10 - 20 degrees celcius: Cool.
20 - 30 degrees celcius: Warm.
31 or above: Hot.
I also took great delight in telling the students they can't complain it hot until it hits 45 degrees (the hottest day I've taught on in Australia!) It felt like you were cooking (and I probably was!)
