8, 14, 3, 19, 20 - Which is the least number? (A lot of people will answer 8!)
We also looked at comparing the two numbers and finding the difference between them, which will lead us into subtraction and addition next week!

- What happens when air is pushed into a smaller space?
- How can water be used to show that air takes up space?
For the first question we constructed a two syringe system so that the students could experiment pushing and pulling air into smaller spaces. With the second question we used basins of water to show how air gets trapped in containers when underwater. We also looked at a vial system and compressing air and water together and how it affects the waters movement. It was a little messy (and wet) but the students really enjoyed submerging objects and seeing the pockets of air. You may be given a demonstration at home!
