ELA
Spelling - we reviewed words with long vowel sounds with the help of "bossy e" and had an impromptu quiz on them on Friday. It seems that the children can apply the rule to spell new words so we hope to see these rules being using in writing as well.
Writing - Students planned, drafted and most published a piece of narrative writing this week. Students chose one special time in the past and wrote about it. They included who was with them, where they where and what happened and followed the traffic light paragraph writing style of using a topic sentence, supporting details and closing sentence. We will continue practising this format with different writing styles.
Reading - We continued looking at the characters in the stories we read and talked about how to locate what a character was saying. By being detectives and finding quotation marks, speech bubbles or narratives where the main character tells the story students where able to identify what the characters where saying and what they liked or did not like.
NOTES OF KINDNESS - in the lead up to next week's Valentine's Day celebrations students started writing kind messages to give to their friends and teachers. These messages will be put up on the 3rd floor and also delivered to students around the school by Miss Erin.
Our own classroom kindness box had many notes when we checked them in morning circle on Friday.
