We continued with our light and reflection investigations this week. Focus questions were: How can we redirect a light beam? What can we see with a mirror? Students explored redirecting light onto another surface and also used a mirror to see things behind them. Looking into the mirror students observed their eyes and tried to draw them as realistically as they could.
Reading and Writing culminated in a report on plants. Students used all the information they had collected while reading to write a report on plants. First they drafted a piece from their post it notes and then edited and wrote a final copy. This report was then typed. We will continue with this next week so that each student has a turn to type up their report and add a chosen picture. Reading assessments were done this week. These assessments take into account decoding ability, fluency, reading expression, retelling and comprehension of what is read. Students have all improved their reading skills over the year. It will be important to keep up the reading over the summer break.
